Hello everyone! I can’t say it has been a relaxing summer, but it has given me a lot of food for thought. Over the last few weeks, I have prayerfully been discerning which study would be appropriate as a follow up to our study of Daniel. I like to alternate Old Testament and New Testament, but none of the books I thought about was stirring something inside of me.
This past weekend, the gospel of Luke floated into my mind. I have written several studies for Mark, and some of us did John together, but I have never had the opportunity to dig deep into the book of Luke. As I have started my research, I have realized that this will be a very timely study what is happening in our world today. More than any other gospel, Luke uniquely highlights the social implications of Jesus’ kingdom mission. In the words of Isaiah, Jesus came to proclaim good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release from darkness for the prisoners.
This kingdom mission is our work to do today. How do we learn what Jesus would do in our current situation? We study what Jesus did in his situation. We begin our study on September 1, but if you want to opt out, you can unsubscribe from this Substack at any time.
I’m looking forward to what we can learn together about Jesus, a Savior for the World.
