Introduction: Sometimes we can feel like we have little to no opportunity to change the world for the better. Do you tend to sit back and watch to see what happens, or do you look for opportunities for action?
Information: In verses 28-35, we see that the “king from the north,” whose actions match those of Antiochus Epiphanes, isn’t content with the plunder from his battles against the king of the south. What does he do “on the way home”? Then he again goes to war against the king of the south with poor results. Who does he “vent his anger” toward? What should God’s people expect during this time? What will be the results for God’s people?
Introspection: We see from Daniel’s vision that this ruler will desecrate the Temple, which happened with Antiochus Epiphanes, and again with the Roman Emperor, Titus. But Daniel reveals something even more troubling. The Temple isn’t all that is descecrated. Many of God’s people are won over by the flattery and charm of this leader. What are some ways that we see God’s people today being won over by the flattery of this world? What does resistance look like for us as believers in our current situation?
Impression: Daniel’s vision promises that those who know their God will be strong. Listen quietly for God’s message just for you today.
