Read Luke 1.39-80
Bonus Reading: Judges 5.24-27; Psalm 21.1-7; Luke 11.27-28
Introduction: Describe a time when someone visited you (maybe even unexpectedly) and the visit brought you great joy. What made that visit so special?
Information: From last week’s passage, why would Mary desire to visit Elizabeth at this time? What is Elizabeth’s (and her unborn child’s) response to Mary’s arrival? How would you characterize Elizabeth based on her interaction with Mary? How might Elizabeth be viewed as a prophet?
Introspection: Elizabeth is the first person in the Bible to confess Jesus is the Messiah, the “Lord.” Think of the encouragement that Mary received from Elizabeth sharing her joy. What are ways that sharing your faith and belief in God can be an encouragement to someone else?
Impression: Consider Elizabeth’s joy in the presence of Jesus as you sit in Jesus’ presence today. What do you hear Jesus say to you today?
